A 52-Week Walk with God

If you’re like me and you love beginning each day in the WORDplace in His presence so that you can go into the WORKplace in His power, then this post is for you!
Starting the first week of January 2021, every Monday I will upload a new video on Facebook in hopes of bringing you a bit of joy, hope, and love. And I’d be over-moon-full-of-joy, if you’d drop a comment below each video and share a bit of what you too are learning from your time in the WORDplace.
I mean it… I’d love to hear about what God whispers to you when you spend time in His presence. Can you imagine what it might look like at the end of 2021 if we encouraged one another with the insights we gained from our time in the WORDplace?
I don’t know about you, but 2020 felt like a desert to me. One long dry season with a handful of occasional rain showers here and there. A difficult year to say the least. But I’ve walked with God long enough to know that, in spite of how everything felt, He will not waste the hardships, the sufferings, or the sorrows. Somehow, all will be made right because He is the Righter of every wrong and the Redeemer of all that has broken us.
With all my heart, I truly believe that in the months ahead we will look back on 2020 and see the hand of God—and beauty rising from the ashes. But still, there’s no denying that last year was really hard. There were so many mornings I struggled to draw near because His presence seemed so far away. But then again, there were those mornings when love broke through and I could feel His nearness—and it was water for my thirsty soul. Ahh… there’s nothing sweeter than to hear His voice, wouldn’t you agree?
So, what about you? What kept you going in the upheaval of 2020? I’d love to hear your stories… so how about you join me on a 52-week walk through 2021?
I’ll post a short video every Monday and share a tidbit or two of things that brought joy to my soul or things that brought me to my knees while spending time in the WORDplace. And I hope you too will share a tidbit or two of an insight gleaned from your time in the WORDplace.
Along with my Bible reading…I’m also reading The Possibility of Prayer: Finding Stillness with God in a Restless World by John Starke. It’s wrecking me in such a good way! And it’s got me thinking about all of the possibilities that prayer ushers into our life.
The author makes a profound point that I have not be able to stop thinking about. He writes, “I once talked with an older friend about prayer when I was going through a season of pain and depression… My friend encouraged me to read the Bible, then meditate on the Scriptures as if they were God’s word to me at that moment. That small practice refreshed my spirit.”
He goes on to say, “If I read Deuteronomy 31:8, ‘The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; Do not be discouraged’ (NIV), I asked myself, how might the Father speak that same truth to me in order to assure me of his fatherly love? How might the Son, my brother, advocate, and friend, speak that truth to me? What might the Spirit, the counselor, convictor, and comforter say?”
Now, I don’t know about you but that’s exactly how I want to read the Word in 2021—to read it as if it were God’s personal word to me.
So, here’s the deal: I’m gonna do my best to show up every Monday and simply share the Word of God that came to me as I spent time with Him in the WORDplace.
I hope you’ll show up too…and share the things that you are learning!
